How do I apply to UNVA?
UNVA offers two methods of application. The traditional way is to download either the graduate or undergraduate application from here (link to admissions). Complete the application and send it along with the application fee payment and other required completed documents to the admissions office.

The second way is to access the new
student portal and sign up. You may complete the application online and submit some documents online as well. Transcripts must be sent unopened to the Admissions Office. You may check for any updates to your application or submit additional information online through your application portal.

How do I register for classes?
Registration may be done online or students may come to the main campus and seek counseling and register in person. Online registration requires the activation of your student portal.

When should I register?
Check the academic
calendar for the beginning of the registration period. Late registration begins the second week of classes and lasts for one week. During the late registration period, each course requires an additional $60 late registration fee.

What should I do before I register for a course?
To ensure that the courses you choose are applicable to your degree, keep in regular contact with your academic advisor who ensure that you are completing the requirements of your degree on a timely basis. Also, be sure to pay all outstanding balances before attempting to register for the new term.

What should I do if I am going to take courses not in my major, take more than 3 courses?
If you would like to take a course for your own edification, you may register for that course. We encourage our students to learn as much as they can while studying at UNVA, but, seek counseling from your advisor before registering for courses that are not applicable to your degree.

What is UNVA's policy regarding part-time and full-time course load?
A student is considered full-time if:
- Undergraduate: enrolled in 4 courses or more
- Graduate or bridge program student: enrolled in 3 courses or more; OR 2 courses (or more), approved employment, and co-op practicum
International (F-1) students are required to be enrolled in a full course load unless approved otherwise by the International Students Office.
Students who want to enroll in more than the full time course load must have prior approval from their department Chair.

Can I withdraw from courses? Are there penalties?
Yes, students may withdraw from classes. Those on an F-1 visa must still have the required number of classes after withdrawal in order to maintain status. UNVA calculates refund penalties based on the number of classes that have already been taught for the course.

How do I report my change in contact information?
Complete
the change of address form and turn it in to the Records and Enrollment Office. Or, log onto your student portal and change your address online.
International students (F-1) are required to notify the University of a change in address as soon as possible, in accordance to USCIS regulations. This may be done by contacting the International Students Office.

How do I request my student transcript?
Complete the
transcript request form, make your payment at the business office and bring your form and receipt to the records and enrollment office.

What are the deadlines for registration?
Typically, UNVA ends the registration period 2 weeks after the quadmester begins.

What are the tuition rates?
Tuition per credit (in US dollars) are as follows:
- Undergraduate: $300
- Master: $375
- Doctorate: $475
- $60 registration fee per course

How do I pay?
UNVA accepts credit cards (Visa, MC, and Discover), checks, and cash. Payments must be made at the business office during operational hours. UNVA also accepts credit card payments by faxing in an
authorization form.
The University authorizes payment plans as well. Visit the
e-cashier website to complete the process. Payments are broken down into thirds of the total amount. A third of the payment is due the day of registration, the following month, and the month after the second payment. Payment plans must be viewed and accepted by the business office before they go into effect.

What library services are available?
UNVA provides its students with a constantly expanding online library that is always accessible. There is an online catalog that lists books and their locations so that students can visit a local library and check the book out. Or, we give students access to UNVA's ebooks and ejournals. Not only are books and journals available in full text and online but, students can add the books to their personal elibrary and bookmark and put notes on them, as well. The online library also offers resources such as reference checking, style guides, and a search engine that searches through all UNVA online resources. Contact the

How do I get my textbooks?
Once you know which classes you intend to register for the next term, check which textbooks will be required.
You can contact the professor for textbook information or you can visit UNVA's Virtual
Bookstore.

What is the procedure for graduation?
UNVA will not automatically submit a student for graduation.
If you believe you are nearing program completion, consult with your academic advisor for an evaluation of your degree. Complete a
graduation application, pay the fee, and submit it to the Records and Enrollment Office. The office will notify you by letter if you have been approved or not. The office will also notify you of the upcoming graduation ceremony.
