A course is recognized by its prefix (e.g., “ACTG-500”), and its
full title (e.g. “Financial Accounting Analysis”). The prefix is
composed of two parts, a letter part indicating a field of study,
and a numeric part indicating the level to which the course belongs.
The numbers in the ranges 100, 200, 300 and 400 indicate
undergraduate courses, roughly parallel to freshman, sophomore,
junior and senior levels. The numbers in the 500 and 600 ranges
indicate master’s and doctoral level courses respectively.
