On
behalf of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and students, I would
like to welcome you to the University of Northern Virginia. You
are joining a global community founded in the last century to serve the
needs of a diverse student population; in it, the enduring value of
education provides a powerful, overarching bond. Students, faculty,
staff and administration worldwide are united in our mission to prepare
you to address the array of intriguing and sometimes complex issues that
you will encounter during the rest of your lives. Essentially, we
assist you in developing the right path for your college and graduate
school education and for your professional career.
The reputation of any
educational institution is built upon the quality of the faculty,
students, staff, and alumni. Here you will find a gifted faculty
dedicated to teaching talented and ambitious students who go on to
assume leadership roles in their chosen professions worldwide. Dynamic
and diverse programs provide students with opportunities to learn, not
only in a traditional classroom setting but also in a milieu rich with
cultural, social, and intellectual activities.
UNVA is
a student-centered institution; our top priority is you. We strive to
provide you with quality instruction and a state-of-the-art curriculum
to help you achieve your professional goals. At any UNVA campus you
will attend reasonably small classes taught by dedicated, highly-trained
faculty members who will take a personal interest in your academic
development. We are continually expanding our curriculum to provide the
most up-to-date training in high-demand fields so you can be successful.
I encourage you to take full advantage of the wonderful challenges that
await you. Don’t waste a minute of this precious period in your life. UNVA
is a very special place, and we welcome you with great enthusiasm and
the highest of hopes. As a community, we try to support one another
continuously as we pursue our goals and help to advance the virtues of
knowledge.
Onward!
