Academic Advisory Council

At each campus, the university accomplishes continuous evaluation and revision of the curriculum for all programs through a process which includes an Academic Advisory Council. This council provides an evaluation and revision interface with the community to insure that all UNVA programs are delivered in a timely, efficacious manner and meet a current need in the community. This council performs an invaluable service to the university and can have considerable impact on future directions taken by UNVA.

This Academic Advisory Council assists UNVA in the planning of new curricula and helps ensure that existing programs and courses continue to provide instruction in knowledge and skills suited for the job market.

The membership of the Academic Advisory Council consists of professionals broadly representative of organizations in the community and within industry, with diverse experience and expertise within the related field. Membership may also include faculty members, students and representatives from the general public. Members should be interested in and committed to general excellence in education.

The Academic Advisory Council for the Virginia campus sits in Northern Virginia; branch campus Academic Advisory Councils and appropriate members are recruited from the relevant region served by the branch campus.

Approval for the Training of Veterans

The Virginia State Approving Agency for Veterans Education and Training at the Veteran Services Department has approved the main campus of the University of Northern Virginia to enroll veterans and other students who are eligible to be recipients of the Montgomery GI Bill educational benefits. The Student Services Office can provide information about applying for these GI Bill programs or a student can go to the website for additional information: www.gibill.va.gov.

Equal Opportunity

The University of Northern Virginia is an equal opportunity educational institution. The university does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, political views, gender, immigration status, height, weight, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical disability in the administration of its admissions policies, educational policies, scholarships and loan programs, and other school programs.

All students are welcome at UNVA.
