The UNVA global libraries endeavor to provide a major gateway to research and information resources -- including the growing availability of resources in electronic formats -- consistent with the present and anticipated teaching, learning, service, and research programs of the university, including e-lecture and online distance learning, for all students, staff, and faculty.
Specific objectives that enable the libraries to fulfill its mission and remain at the center of the academic enterprise are:
-
To select and acquire published information in any format to support teaching, learning and research.
-
To organize and preserve collections for use.
-
To ensure that the library collections are properly balanced, maintained and relevant to courses.
-
To provide access to, disseminate and deliver information and learning resources.
-
To provide facilities to enable all such resources to be fully utilized.
-
To provide assistance to users in the exploitation of learning resources.
-
To instruct on the use of information resources and research methods.
-
To maintain close liaison with faculty, staff and other academic support services and to take an active part in curriculum development.
-
To maintain positive contacts with other library and information services.
-
To have the interests of the library represented on relevant internal and external committees.
